IUCN NL
Leaders for Nature was founded by the IUCN National Committee of the Netherlands (IUCN NL) in 2005. IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature is the world’s oldest and largest global environmental network - a democratic membership union with more than 1,000 government and NGO member organizations, and almost 11,000 volunteer scientists in more than 160 countries. IUCN NL is the platform for the 35 IUCN members based in the Netherlands.
IUCN NL:
- Takes action for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems worldwide.
- Strives for a constructive contribution of the Netherlands regarding nature and environmental issues.
- Strives via lobby and projects for a smaller ecological footprint of the Dutch economy.
- Supports organisations in 24 developing countries who commit to protection of natural habitat in relation to poverty reduction.
- Unites 34 Dutch IUCN members and the government, and forms a bridge between NGO’s, government, business community and science.
Leaders for Nature has access to IUCN NL's network of environmental NGOs, scientists, governments, and civil society world wide. Because of its extensive knowledge, networks, experience and partnerships IUCN NL is in an excellent position to support businesses and corporate leaders in their sustainability aspirations.
